Ups and Downs

I have been very busy this few weeks and times really fly fast. Now is already May. Lots have happened in my life lately. First of all, my grandma (in chinese we call PoPo) has fallen sick. She has been admitted to the hospital twice for Alzheimer and Pneumonia. PoPo pass away last Tuesday nite at 11.30pm at the age of 87. Before that PoPo was also attacked by stroke twice and fell into coma. PoPo pass away without regaining consciousness. I felt sad that she has pass away, but glad that God took her away, cos I know she is suffering although she is in coma. We can’t do anything to help her. She really looks helpless. The funeral took place last Saturday. Before that we held prayers for her in Chinese traditional way for 2 nites. Anyway, I hope PoPo will find happiness in her other life.

Enough about all those sad stories.

On knitting, have not been doing anything lately. With the funeral and the other things, I can’t really find time to knit. But I did mention in my earlier post, that I’m doing some crochet. Here’s the preview on the progress and a closeup on the pattern.

Its just a simple top. It took me ages to crochet it to this stage. I frog twice. I can’t seem to get to the right measurement. It’s really different from knitting which we can adjust the measurement easily. The other thing is the tension. My tension tends to differ from each line. At least now, I am able to control a bit. I still have about 3’’ to the shaping of the shoulder. Previously, all my crocheting is a failure, this time around I hope I don’t give up. Luckily I have encouragement and a helping hand from Brenda.

(This is the close-up of the pattern)

I don't have a proper photo for the KIRI, I get my hubby to shot a pic of me in KIRI sometime back. It doesn't look so good though.

Thats all for now, Happy Knitting.

Hi Doreen,
Sorry to hear that your grandma passed away. I've noticed that you didn't post for a while, it must have been very hard times.
Maybe some knitting and crochet will help you through these tough days.
Oh, your crochet blouse is looking really nice, I also want to learn it.

I just want to let you know that I understand how you feel, since my grandmother(I called her Ama) passed away too 3 years ago after being in coma for 3 days. The difference is that, my Ama was very healthy at the age of 87, but she fell down off the stairs. I guess you're lucky enough to be by her side, so cheer up!! Knit something, it'll make you feels much better, right??

I'm sorry to hear about your grandmum. It's very difficult to lose a loved one regardless of age or circumstance. Be well.

My condolences to you. My grandmom was doing very poorly before she passed away recently at the age of 98 so I have to agree with you it's better that she's not suffering any more. BTW, your kiri looks very nice on you.

So sorry to hear that your Popo passed away. It's always difficult to lose a loved one but at least she didn't suffer much.
Take care! I agree with the others that knitting/crochet may make you feel better :)

Hi Doreen,
New look for your blog. The pink is nice, and I believe you must be a pink lover :)
To answer your question, I am from Taman Salak South, somewhere near the Sri Petaling or Bukit Jalil area. Are you familiar with that area?
Happy Life & Happy Knitting.
